Train/car accident
Description
At exactly 11:00 AM this date Polk County dispatchers received a call advising of a train/car accident at 1235 Delano Road. West Polk Fire-Rescue unit were dispatched to the scene. When they arrived on the scene they found that the two occupants had been removed from the car by several Amish men who were working in the immediate vicinity. It was believed that the driver was experiencing car problems and was attempting to reach an open spot where he could check out the problem. 10-year old April Young of Etowah was transported to Erlanger by Air Evac helicopter with a head injury. Her grandfather, Ronnie Young, also of Etowah, was transported by Rural-Metro ambulance to Woods Memorial Hospital in Etowah with minor head injuries.
